Purpose

The Chinese Railroad Workers History Center (CRWHC) is established with a purpose to commemorate the experiences and contributions of Chinese railroad workers to the United States of America through exhibitions and programs. With a spirit of remembering the past and inspiring the future, the Center focus itself of giving voice to the voiceless as its core mission.

Having a set location in the middle San Francisco Chinatown and with bustling Financial District one block away, the Center aims to convey a positive image of Chinese Americans in the U.S. by uniting all Chinese communities in America and having programs and activities together at the Center. Joining hands with other Asian American & Pacific Islander communities, the Center will further cooperate to promote peace & harmony while bringing prosperity of Chinatown’s businesses.

Mission

The Center will serve as a resource to learn about the contributions of Chinese immigrants that helped build America and help the next generation to understand not only the railroad connected the Pacific & Atlantic oceans, it also connected people of East & West together to build an even greater America.
